Come along to one of North Tyneside's free brilliant biking sessions this summer.
Enjoy a range of activities each morning, including bike check workshops, free Dr Bike servicing, bikeability training, safety classes, route planning, and 'bling up your bike' sessions, and then each afternoon get in the saddle for a two-hour scenic guided ride along some of the borough's most picturesque cycling routes.
The free two-day long events are ideal for families with children of all ages - little ones can enjoy a tricycle play area and nature walks.
A free lunch will be provided, and everyone who comes along will be entered a prize draw to win a £250 bike voucher from a local bike shop.
The sessions have been organised and funded by North Tyneside Council. Richard Rothwell, the council's school travel plan adviser, says: "The events guarantee to be brilliant fun and also a really good way to brush up on your cycling skills and learn a little more about your bike. Cycling is a brilliant way to keep fit, have fun, and see some of the most interesting parts of the borough, all for free!"
Family summer cycling is also being supported by Be Air Aware, a Tyne and Wear campaign working to raise awareness of air pollution. Rebecca Rosenquist, leading the campaign from Newcastle City Council, said: "We are delighted to support events which encourage families to think about sustainable transport including cycling. Look out for free Be Air Aware high visibility vests at the events, and tips on small steps you can take to make our air fresher."
Sessions run from 10 am - 3 pm on both days and places are filling up fast. To book, please call Paul Adams on 0191 643 6125 or email paul.adams@northtyneside.gov.uk.
