North Tyneside youngsters will be dancing in the streets this weekend as part of Wallsend Festival's 10th anniversary.
On Saturday 3 July, from 10am to 5pm., the weeklong celebration will be marked with a family fun day in the town centre, including live music, a fairground, a vintage car show and a model railway exhibition.
And as part of the festivities, 18 students from Burnside Business Enterprise College and St Thomas More High School will be entertaining the crowds at High Street East in Wallsend, with a special dance performance between 12 noon and 1.45pm.
The Year 10 performing arts students are half way through a two-year young apprenticeship programme, supported by North Tyneside Council, which invites 14 to 16 year olds to take part in 50 days of work experience.
As part of the scheme, the North Tyneside Education Business Partnership has helped arrange links between different organisations and local schools, enabling youngsters to develop their skills and knowledge.
This has led to the young dance group working closely with medieval folk band Wullfengrimm, to create their Gaelic style routine especially for the day.
