The 100th birthday of Wallsend Town Hall is being celebrated with a month-long programme of free events.
To mark the building's centenary, North Tyneside Council and its partners are inviting the public to get involved in a variety of activities.
They run throughout September and feature in a programme guide, which is available from leisure centres, libraries, tourist information centres, community centres and heritage venues in the borough.
The centrepiece of the programme is a Wallsend 100 exhibition in the town hall, which will feature historic picture of the area.
Events include:
North Tyneside's elected mayor John Harrison said: "We hope lots of people join in the centenary celebrations - there are lots of free activities to enjoy.
"We felt it was important to recognise the history of the town hall at a time when so much is changing in Wallsend.
"Work is underway on a new pool and we're delivering a new bridge at Burn Closes. Other plans include: the multi-million pound restoration of Wallsend Parks; rejuvenating the adjacent river corridor, including providing a multiversity; a revitalised retail centre and an improved pedestrian environment."
