Picking up a North Tyneside Council guide to shops in North Shields led to an added bonus for one North Tyneside resident.
Paul Clark, of North Shields, entered a competition within the shopping guide that offered the chance to win a year's Contour's membership.
And after his entry was drawn at random, Paul can now benefit from unlimited use of North Tyneside Council's gyms, health suites, exercise classes and swimming pools.
He said: "I am really enjoying keeping fit. This membership is ideal as I live next to The Parks sports centre and have been visiting the gym regularly.
"The staff are very friendly as are the other members. I'm already starting to notice the difference in me as are my friends."
North Tyneside Council produced 9,000 copies guides were produced, which lists places to visit and things to do in North Shields.
John Fleet, North Tyneside Council's town centres manager, said: "The guides have been very well received.
"They're a handy pocket size and help to highlight just what's on offer in North Shields. All 9,000 were snapped up within weeks and we're already working on plans for next year's edition."
