Hundreds of people have signed up for a behind-the-scenes tour of the new £8million PLAYHOUSE in Whitley Bay.
North Tyneside Council and the venue's managers, SMG, originally organised two days of special previews on August 11 and 12.
However, after all places on the one-hour tours were taken, more were added on August 13 and 14, which have now also been filled. In total around 400 people have signed up for the tours.
Cllr Glynis Barrie, Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "I'm delighted there is so much interest in the PLAYHOUSE.
"It's a first class facility which will serve the people of North Tyneside and beyond for years to come."
Ailsa Oliver, Theatre Director, said: "The response from the public to attend the tours has exceed expectation and reflects the fantastic support for the venue by the local community.
"This has also been noted by the number of people purchasing tickets in person from our box office."
The PLAYHOUSE boasts an elegant new glass foyer, front of house facilities, box office and bar facilities with a sea view; in addition it features a re-designed auditorium with new seating, corporate facility, new green room and chorus rooms.
The redevelopment of the PLAYHOUSE has been funded by the council and a contribution of up to £700,000 from the European Regional Development Fund.
The PLAYHOUSE is situated in Marine Avenue, Whitley Bay. For booking information TEL: 0844 277 2771, disabled people TEL: 0191 260 6066 or visit www.playhousewhitleybay.co.uk. People can call into the box office in person on Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm and Saturday 9.30am - 1.30pm.
