01-FEB-12

Issued by: Graeme Cook

Petrolheads will be revved-up this weekend thanks to North Tyneside Council's latest town centre event.

On Saturday, February 4, a range of classic cars will be on display along Whitley Road in Whitley Bay, between 10am and 11.30am, along Bedford Street in North Shields, from 12noon until 1.30pm, and just outside the Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend, between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Shoppers can enjoy a wide collection of vintage cars, including a 1947 Mercury, a 1974 Mercury, a 1947 Ford Prefect, a 1994 Lincoln and a 1949 Chevy truck.

The cars have been restored and modified, many still with their original owners who will be on hand to chat about their vehicles..

These events form part of a wide and varied programme of town centre events organised by North Tyneside Council as part of its commitment to support town centre businesses.

Anybody wanting to find out more information can sign up for a regular e-newsletter detailing all up and coming events in North Tyneside by emailing: events@northtyneside.gov.uk.

Previous town centre events have included a caricaturist, pavement art, circus street theatre, dance displays, stilt walkers, live music and appearances from children's favourite TV characters including Peppa Pig, Fireman Sam and Postman Pat.

All events are weather dependent and in the case of poor weather conditions, some outdoor events may either be cancelled or moved indoors.
