Fun for town centre shoppers

06-SEP-10

Issued by: Duncan Bennett

Funky face painting for children forms part of the entertainment in North Tyneside's town centres on Saturday, September 11.

Children can have their faces painted for free at Park View Shopping Centre in Whitley Bay or at the Beacon Shopping Centre in North Shields between 11am and 2pm.

Elsewhere in the borough, the Blyth & District Model Railway Society will be exhibiting at the Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend between 11am and 3pm.

There will be a large model railway layout for enthusiasts to check out, while representatives from the organisation will be chatting to shoppers and answering any questions they may have.

The events form part of a wide and varied programme of town centre events organised by North Tyneside Council as part of its commitment to support town centre businesses. Further events are planned throughout the year.

Previous town centre events have included special appearances by Newcastle Eagles basketball team, falconry displays, celebrity look-alike personal shoppers, balloon modellers, urban dance, steel band performances and classic car displays.

To be kept up to date on events in North Tyneside visit the council's website or see local press for details. You can sign up for a regular newsletter by emailing events@northtyneside.gov.uk.
