Issued by: Duncan Bennett

A full-line up of entertainment is in store for shoppers visiting North Tyneside's town centres on Saturday, February 6.

North Tyneside Council sport and leisure staff will be demonstrating combat and step routine classes at the Park View Shopping Centre in Whitley Bay on from 12noon until 2pm.

They will also be giving away fruit and free one-day passes for the council's Contours gyms.

Meanwhile, North Tyneside Steel Band will be performing half hour shows in North Shields and Wallsend town centres.

The performances will take place at 10am and 11am along Bedford Street in North Shields and on the bandstand just outside the Forum Shopping Centre in Wallsend at 12.30pm and 1.30pm.

The appearances are organised by North Tyneside Council as part of its commitment to support town centre businesses.

Previous town centre events have included a falconry display; celebrity look-alikes; appearances by Newcastle Eagles basketball team, Newcastle Falcons rugby team and the star of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Craig Chalmers, and children's TV character Peppa Pig.
