Local artist, Kathryn Wakeman is inviting everyone of all ages to come to the former Ex Catalogue Shop, in the Mall, and get busy with their crayons. Following on from the huge success of the virtual Bead shop and Children'sToy shop in North Shields and Wallsend respectively, the window display planned for Whitley Bay is a Shoe Shop.
Kathryn said, "We will transform the front window by creating a window dressing of a bright and colourful shoes, trainers, sandals, boots, any kind of footware you can imagine. Now's the time for everyone to show off their art and design skills."
With paper, felt tip pens and art and craft decoration participants will design, draw, colour and decorate shoes of their choice. The shoes will then be displayed in the window for all to see.
The art workshop is free and all are welcome to drop in at any time. Children need to bring an adult but adults don't need to bring a child. If you're not sure about your colouring and sticking skills, just pop in and take a look at what others are doing.
The art initiative to brighten up the empty shop front is supported by North Tyneside Council and is part of their commitment to town centre businesses.
